When God Says Wait: Learning to Trust the Process

Waiting is one of the hardest things God asks us to do. Not fighting. Not running. Not even praying harder. Just — waiting. And if you're anything like me, waiting doesn't come naturally.

There was a season in my life where everything stopped. A job I thought was stable was suddenly gone. The plans I had, the routine I depended on, the version of myself I was comfortable with — all of it shifted in what felt like an instant. And in that stillness, in that forced pause, I had two choices: panic or trust.

"Being still doesn't mean doing nothing. Sometimes being still means having enough faith to stop forcing what isn't yours to force."

The Waiting Room Is Not Wasted Time

We live in a world that celebrates hustle and fast results. So when God puts us in a waiting season, it can feel like punishment. Like we did something wrong. Like everyone else is moving forward and we're stuck.

But here's what I've learned: the waiting room is where God does some of His best work. It's where He strips away what isn't serving you. It's where He builds the character you're going to need for what's coming next. It's where Grace & Backbone was born — not out of comfort, but out of a quiet season where I had nothing but time, faith, and a vision I couldn't shake.

Faith Doesn't Mean You're Not Scared

I want to be real with you — trusting the process doesn't mean you're not afraid. I was afraid. I didn't know how things were going to work out. But faith isn't the absence of fear. Faith is choosing to move forward anyway, choosing to believe anyway, choosing to keep your eyes up even when everything around you is uncertain.

That's what Soft Heart. Strong Soul. means to me. A soft heart that's honest about the struggle. A strong soul that keeps going despite it.

"Your waiting season is not your wasted season. God is preparing you for what you've been praying for."

What to Do While You Wait

Keep showing up. Even on the days it feels pointless, keep showing up. Take the next small step in front of you. Journal. Pray. Create something. Serve someone. Don't let the waiting make you idle — let it make you intentional.

And when the doubt gets loud — and it will — go back to what you know. Not what you feel. What you know. You know God has never left you. You know every hard season you've survived has made you stronger. You know your story isn't over.

So keep waiting. Keep trusting. Keep going. Your breakthrough is closer than it feels.
